Senior Interaction Designer

New York

Smart Design is looking for a talented Senior Interaction Designer with an emphasis on digital product design (UX) to join our Interaction Design team full-time.

Interaction Designers research, concept, design, prototype and execute designs that are engaging for users and fulfill the business and technology requirements of our client. Oh, and they know that when we say “users” what we really mean is “real people.”

Responsibilities:

  • Act as a core team member on client projects interacting directly with clients and presenting your work ranging from fast-growing startups to some of the world’s most recognized brands in consumer electronics, healthcare and financial services
  • Primary focus on user experience for applications and SaaS software: creating sketches, app/site maps, user flows, wireframes and interactive prototypes
  • Secondary focus on UX research: conducting design research, creating stimuli and structuring in person/remote user sessions and synthesizing learning
  • Bonus skills — service design and UX for HMI and embedded systems
  • Work alongside developers whether in-house, freelance or client side teams

Naturally, you have:

  • A degree in digital design, new media, user experience, interaction design, HCI or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience designing software and digital products including web, mobile and desktop applications
  • Knowledge of UX structure, content prioritization and hierarchy, interaction models and microinteractions
  • Ability to prototype ideas in current prototyping software including Figma, InVision and Principle
  • Experience designing for technology platforms (Iot, AI, wearables, Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience creating documentation including annotations, style guides/tiles and patterns libraries
  • An incurable curiosity relating to all things design and technology
  • Love of teamwork, brainstorming sessions and presenting in front of clients
  • Capable of empathy. Great design is based on understanding other people, how they behave, what they care about, what they want to achieve, and how they work.

Please note, although we are remote through January, the role is based in Brooklyn and will need to be local by February 2022.

We are committed to creating an inclusive culture and are proud to be an equal opportunity employerAt this time, we are unable to sponsor for this position.
