As of September 2017, it has been brought to our attention that phishing and fraudulent emails are using Smart Design employees to perpetrate a possible scam. Emails and google hang out requests made to look like they are on behalf of our employees are soliciting personal account and computer information, under the guise of a work-from-home design position. Smart Design does not offer work-from-home remote positions. If you receive a suspicious email, google hang out, or other meeting request that uses Smart Design’s name, or the name of a Smart Design employee please forward it to us immediately at abuse@smartdesignworldwide.com.
Ways to identify phishing and spoofing emails include:
- Links that appear to be Smart Design links but aren’t. If you place your cursor over a link in a suspicious email, your email program should show you the destination URL. Do not click the link, but look closely at the URL. Our website page and URL will start www.smartdesignworldwide.com.
- Gmail or other meeting requests. For initial contact, Smart Design employees will use our company Outlook email, LinkedIn In-mail messages, or other secure portfolio viewing sites (eg. Behance) to connect with possible candidates.
- Requests for personal information. Smart Design will never ask you to reply in an email with any personal information such as your Social Security number, banking information, or computer set-up.
- Obvious typos and other errors. These are often the mark of fraudulent emails and websites. Be on the lookout for typos or grammatical errors, awkward writing and poor visual design.
Thank you for bringing any suspicious email to our attention. We will take any attempts to fraudulently use our brand very seriously.
