Project Manager (physical product development)

We’re seeking a Project Manager with a proven track record of bringing physical products from development through to manufacturing.
At Smart, project management is a proactive and integral part of our design teams helping to keep work on track, anticipating challenges, and coordinating across disciplines to deliver high-quality outcomes.
This role is both strategic and hands-on: you’ll guide projects from early development through production, collaborate with vendors, and serve as a key point of contact for clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Work with project teams to develop detailed project plans, including timelines and resources needed for physical product development project work
- Manage logistical communication with clients on assigned projects (with Project Director managing design or content questions)
- “Emcee” and schedule important client milestone meetings with appropriately documented agenda items
- Maintain updated budget reports and stand-up boards to maintain an ongoing understanding of project status against project plan
- Facilitate scope creep discussions to ensure all projects stay on budget, in partnership with Project Director
- Coordinate resources with project team and Resourcing/HR, inputting project timelines and resources into resourcing software
- Deliver a positive client experience through proactive and clear communication
Naturally you’ll have:
- 3+ years of experience in project management
- A minimum of 1 year focused on delivering physical product development projects that have gone through to manufacturing
- Prior experience in a consulting environment preferred
- Experience working with industrial designers and mechanical engineers
- Strong attention to detail managing project logistics, client communication, and budgets
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership abilities
- Proficiency with project management and communication tools
Please note, the role is based in Brooklyn and we work on a hybrid schedule, onsite Tuesdays to Thursdays, with flexibility to work remotely Mondays and Fridays.
Rates will be determined based on experience but ranging from $70,000-95,000/hour for project manager roles, and up to $120,000 for senior project manager applicants.
