Fast Company:

Trophy Haul fishing net finalist at Innovation by Design Awards

Press

The 2019 Innovation by Design awards recognizes business and designers commitment to helping to solve the problems of today and tomorrow.

This year, the Trophy Haul Series Fishing Net is recognized as a finalist in the Product Design category of Fast Company’s Innovation by Design Awards. The awards honor designers and businesses committed to using design to solve challenging problems and entries are judged on key elements of innovation: functionality, originality, beauty, sustainability, depth of user insight, cultural impact, and business impact.

Anglers are passionate about their sport and demand maximum performance from their equipment, but the nets they use to land their fish haven’t kept up with the times. Frabill, the market leader in landing nets, engaged Smart Design to bring nets into the 21st century by addressing unmet needs in an industry and sport that hasn’t seen tremendous change in equipment in the last 2,000 years. The Trophy Haul series of fishing nets are designed to be the tools that modern anglers need to “finish the fight” and land the fish.

Standing out in a competitive market is always a challenge. Partnering with Smart offered an outsider perspective that helped us understand what our customers were missing so we could improve our products with them in mind.
