Gordon Hui, Smart’s Vice President, Strategy, has more than a decade of experience in innovation consulting and a background in strategy. He works with senior leaders in diverse industries to create new services, business models, capabilities, and technology platforms by integrating human-centered design, business strategy, and startup techniques.

An established voice and recognized thought leader on innovation in the Financial Services sector, topics that Gordon has written and spoken about include Millennials, general innovation strategy, and Internet of Things. His perspectives have been highlighted in diverse media outlets, including American Banker, Harvard Business Review, Fast Company, TEDx, and Sirius XM Radio.

Prior to his current role, Gordon served as an assistant vice president at The Hartford where he guided the development of new services and business models related to sensors, geo-location, and telematics in the company’s Innovation and Corporate Venture group. A big picture thinker, earlier in his career Gordon created and deployed a brand activation strategy for a 300,000 person company that included a high production workshop experience with immersive installations, custom-built furniture, and lighting setups previously used by Lady Gaga.  

Gordon holds an M.B.A from The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and a bachelor’s degree in finance and international business from the University of Maryland at College Park. Gordon’s work has received the IDSA IDEA Gold Award for Design Strategy.
